Specialized hanging of hand-painted silk, continuous panoramic landscapes, and large-format architectural wallcoverings. de Gournay, Gracie Studio, Calico Wallpaper, Cole & Son, and bespoke custom commissions across NYC & The Tri-State.
A bespoke scenic mural is not ordinary wallpaper—it is an architectural work of fine art. Whether hand-painted on raw silk by de Gournay or Gracie Studio, or custom-dimensioned by Calico Wallpaper, each continuous panoramic landscape costs thousands of dollars per panel and allows zero margin for installation error.
Ordinary paperhangers risk disastrous outcomes: severed horizon lines, water-stained watercolor gouache, distorted perspective around windows, or seams splitting on drying plaster. At ProKir Design, we approach every panoramic commission with museum conservator precision.
Every panoramic mural and Chinoiserie installation adheres to an unyielding preservation protocol engineered to protect priceless hand-painted artwork and ensure absolute visual perfection.
Continuous panoramic murals have sequential numbered panels. We dry-map the entire room before unrolling, balancing key narrative vignettes (temples, exotic birds, hero trees) symmetrically across focal walls while avoiding cuts across delicate centerpieces.
Natural Chinese raw silk and hand-applied metallic leaf grounds are extremely susceptible to skin oils and moisture bleeding. We handle all unsealed panels with lint-free microfiber gloves and employ low-moisture conservation pastes that prevent face bleed.
Pre-war Manhattan townhouses and high-rises rarely have plumb walls. We calibrate continuous horizon lines around ornate crown moldings, door casings, fireplace mantels, and sconces without perspective distortion or jagged seam breaks.
Delicate silks and metallic foils telegraph even a grain of sand beneath the paper. We skim surfaces to a Level 5 mirror finish, seal with non-alkaline primers, and cross-line with acid-free archival lining paper (blanket stock) to buffer structural tension.
From historic French panoramic woodblocks to contemporary hand-marbled metallics, our technical mastery covers every prestigious mural discipline.
Bespoke commissions from de Gournay, Gracie Studio, and Fromental. Hand-painted botanical garden scenes, exotic flora, and gilded metallic backgrounds.
Architectural monochromatic grisaille landscapes, French 19th-century scenic panoramas, and lush classical forest views that transform rooms into grand vistas.
Brooklyn-born Calico Wallpaper and cutting-edge design houses creating non-repeating metallic ombre gradients, cosmic marblings, and architectural horizon lines.
Oversized dramatic peony florals, tropical rainforest foliage, and museum fine-art reproductions requiring high-contrast edge trimming and seamless vertical joints.
Essential information on preparing for, measuring, and hanging bespoke murals and hand-painted silk wallcoverings in NYC.
Unlike repeating patterns, scenic murals feature continuous non-repeating artwork across sequential panels. Hand-painted silks (such as de Gournay or Gracie) use delicate watercolors that bleed if touched by moisture, while architectural landscapes require exact horizon alignment across room corners, doorframes, and fireplace mantels with zero margin for error.
We bring wall surfaces to a flawless Level 5 finish using feather-edge compound smoothing, followed by an anti-alkaline barrier primer. For hand-painted silk and metallic leaf, we install cross-hung acid-free archival lining paper (blanket stock) beneath the mural to absorb structural tension and prevent plaster ghosting.
Before unrolling adhesive, we perform a dry mathematical layout of the room. We scale the panel sequence to center primary artistic vignettes (trees, temples, central figures) on prominent focal walls, while tucking panel transitions neatly into architectural corners and window reveals.
